1. Book Talk and Signing for “Envisioning America: New Chinese Americans and the Politics of Belonging”

“Envisioning America: New Chinese Americans and the Politics of Belonging” is a detailed study of how naturalized Chinese residing in Southern California have become highly involved civic and political actors, part of which involves the history and growth of CAUSE as an organization dedicated to promoting AAPI civic engagement.
At the CAUSE pre-election reception, Toyota spoke briefly about her work, and this event offers an opportunity for attendees to delve deeper into the issues mentioned and ask her questions. CAUSE Board Chair Charlie Woo will also be present to act as respondent at the event.

2. Chrysler/California Latino Caucus Institute Elected Officials Training Academy
Friday to Sunday, Dec. 3-5

The December Academy XI will be comprised of local electeds from school boards, city councils, water boards and county supervisors. The two-day training program is not exclusively for Latino elected officials, and will provide valuable leadership skills, public policy knowledge and assist in networking among experts and elected officials. AB 1234 certification will be provided by the Institute for Local Government.
