POLL WORKER PROGRAM What are the requirements to be a Poll Worker? To be a poll worker you must be at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen, be a registered voter, must complete the training before Election Day, must be physically and mentally able to work with people, and do the assigned tasks. How Do I apply? Complete the Poll Worker Application After you are selected, you will be assigned to a polling place location and given instructions to attend Poll Worker training. Do I get paid for volunteering to work? Yes, you will receive a stipend for the day. The amount will vary according to the position and the duties performed. What are the working hours? You will work from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 pm. on Election Day. HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS PROGRAM I am a junior in high school, can I help out on Election Day? Yes, under the “Youth with a Vision” (YWAV) program you can actually be a poll worker assisting at the polling place. You need to be 16 years old; be a U.S. citizen; have a 2.5 GPA; and have transportation to the training and polling place. How do I apply? You need to get a written permission from your parents/guardians; complete the High School Student Form (Youth with a Vision); and get the principal or assistant principal to sign it. You will then be advised when to go to the required training before the election. Do I get anything? Besides a good experience, you will receive a stipend for your participation.
