Dear Friends, I’m excited to announce that I’m running for California Assembly for the 27th District! I’ve been honored and proud to represent San Jose as Vice Mayor and on the City Council. It has been tremendously rewarding to work to create more economic opportunity and good-paying jobs, improve transportation, strengthen public safety and promote the development of affordable housing while working hard to maintain a balanced budget. We got a lot done – but I’m know there’s so much more to do. I’m running for the Assembly to be your voice and your champion in Sacramento. My parents taught me long ago not to be afraid of hard work. It’s a lesson that I learned in the fields of the Central Valley where I worked side-by-side with my mom and dad to help provide for our family. It’s a lesson I remembered every day I’ve served our community, whether I was registering new voters, teaching at community colleges, serving on of the Franklin-McKinley Board of Education or being your Vice Mayor. California is moving in the right direction but we must move even faster to strengthen our education system for all students, boost middle-class jobs for working families to reduce income inequality, and reaffirm our commitment to address the housing crisis in San Jose. I know what it means to work hard for your family and community. I’m running for the Assembly because I want to keep working hard for this great city and because I want my daughter and every child to have every opportunity to succeed. I’m proud to already have the support and sole endorsements of many prominent elected officials, business and community leaders including former San Jose Mayor Chuck Reed, Santa Clara County Assessor Larry Stone, former State Controller Steve Westly, Santa Clara Valley Water District Board Members Nai Hsueh and Linda LeZotte, Menlo Park Mayor Catherine Carlton, Campbell Councilmember Elizabeth Gibbons, Saratoga Councilmember Emily Lo, business and community leaders Leslee Guardino, Bob Kieve, Leslie Rodriguez, Elizabeth Alvarez, Dr. Ngai Nguyen, Dien Thanh Tran and many more. Stay tuned for more exciting developments including our upcoming campaign kick off celebration! Sign up using the form below and don’t forget to like me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter! Together, I know we can build a city and a state that works for all of us. Sincerely,
