Have a nice day, ———————— Immigrant Voters Now Able to Access Election Information in Multiple Languages Pasadena, CA – The website of the Center for Asian Americans United for Self Empowerment (CAUSE) website (www.causeusa.org) now features 2010 General Election guides available for download in the following languages: – English – Spanish – Chinese – Korean – Vietnamese The pamphlets contain useful information about voting procedures, as well as profiles of candidates and short analyses of propositions. This is a great opportunity to reach out to voters who have a stronger affinity and understanding of a language other than English. Limited hardcopy versions of the guides are also available upon request. “Studies have repeatedly shown that immigrants are more likely to be engaged in civic participation when presented with information in their own languages.” said Charlie Woo, board chair at CAUSE. As such, we encourage and urge community leaders and groups, as well as members of the Asian- and Spanish-language media, to utilize this multilingual tool in order to promote political involvement. The website now also hosts an online voter registration form that makes it easier than ever to participate in the election. Absentee ballot information and instructions may also be found under the voter registration tab. The last day to register to vote is Oct. 18, while the last day to apply for a vote-by-mail ballot by mail is Oct. 26. Election day is Nov. 2. On Oct. 27, CAUSE will host a pre-election reception at the Omni Los Angeles Hotel, featuring speakers Darry Sragnow, Democratic campaign strategist and managing partner at Sonnenschein Nath and Rosenthal (L.A.), and Allan Hoffenblum, Republican campaign consultant and publisher of California Target Book. The conversation will focus on the outlook for the upcoming November election and the salient issues at play.
