CAUSE Provides Input To CA Redistricting Commission map
Recently, the California Citizens Redistricting Commission released its first draft of proposed boundaries for Congressional, Senate, and Assembly Districts. How these boundaries are drawn will influence the type of representation Asian Pacific Islander Americans (APIAs) will have in Congress and the state legislature. After reviewing the commission’s first draft maps, CAUSE has submitted a letter supporting some of its proposed districts and recommending changes to other districts. Click here to view the letter. Recap of June Events CAUSE Chairman Charlie Woo Presents at Redistricting Community Forum population graph  On June 15, 2011, at the Crawford Family Forum at KPCC in Pasadena, the League of Women Voters (LWV) held a forum entitled, “Dueling Maps: How Will Your District Change?” for community members to discuss and analyze the first mapping drafts of the California Citizens Redistricting Commission. CAUSE Chair, Charlie Woo, was one of the presenters at the event, where he explained the impact that the Commission’s proposals would have on the Asian Pacific Islander American (APIA) community. CAUSE welcomed its twentieth class of interns at the 2011 CAUSE Leadership Academy Internship Kickoff Luncheon on Friday, June 17, 2011, from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM., at the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce.  The Luncheon was a festive affair, where CAUSE interns, their parents, sponsors, board members, and commu nity leaders came together to support civic leadership in the Asian Pacific Islander American (APIA) community.  From the start of the luncheon, the interns were busy connecting to supporters and speaking with various journalists. Read more>> View photos   New Sponsor NeweggBusiness Donates Computers to CAUSE newegg2 This month, CAUSE is pleased to receive brand new computers courtesy of NeweggBusiness.
