Special Election for At-Large School Board Member of Fairfax County in Virginia is Aug. 29

Aug. 17, 2017 Fairfax County will have a special countywide election on Tuesday, Aug. 29, to fill a vacancy for at-large School Board member for the remainder of the present term of office, which expires Dec. 31, 2019. Absentee voting is underway and the last day to absentee vote in person is Saturday, Aug. 26 at the Fairfax County Government Center. Five Things to Know to Vote: Review your sample ballot. The election is countywide at all 243 precincts; check your poll location. Bring a valid form of photo ID to vote. Fairfax County Public Schools will be open on Tuesday, Aug. 29, and it is the second day of classes. If your voting precinct is located in a school, you are encouraged to vote before or after school hours if possible and to postpone voting during the times when school buses are dropping off or picking up students. Check election results online after 7 p.m. (It may take some time for results to come in with 243 precincts reporting.)
